“For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts,” says the Lord." Isaiah 55:9
One of my biggest struggles I face every day is letting my thoughts consume me. When a challenge arises or self-doubt surfaces, my thoughts overwhelm me- “you aren’t good enough.. you don’t measure up.. you’re unworthy”. But according to this verse, I should be telling myself “Be quiet” because God’s thoughts about me are so much more important and so much higher than mine. His thoughts should be the ones consuming me and overwhelming me in those moments of fear and doubt.
So what does God think about me? In Ephesians, Paul states in chapter 1 verse 18 that we are His glorious inheritance. Like what? That inheritance all of us look forward to receiving one day? God views us as His inheritance that he longs to have? And Jesus views our redemption as the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2). Jesus endured the shame of the cross in the hope that we would have a relationship with the Father and bring Him glory.
So anytime your mind or the world wants to remind you of your insecurities or failures, remind yourself of what God thinks of you, for His thoughts are higher—“you are My joy and My glorious inheritance and I’m crazy about you”.
