Graduate to Disciple
"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people." - Matthew 4:19 (NIV)
Graduation is this weekend for all our seniors and a new chapter in life is starting, but there is one chapter that will always stay open and continue to be added to. That chapter is the story and the life of following Jesus. We may change schools or change grades, but God is always present and the same in our lives. We don't have to follow the changes in this world. We can stay in the story that Christ is writing about our lives.
Be a disciple that makes disciples. When your location and friends change don't let it change you. Be the change that those around you need. Go into the world, displaying the Light of Christ. I have seen too many young people adapt and change because their new friends influence them, or they go off to college and lose sight of Jesus. You have been trained to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, so go carrying the change that is necessary for the new people that God places in your life.
Lord, give us the strength to bear your name always. Amen.
